Papakanui’s early success - RpG-YM hatched mid-November, banded 2nd December and recently sited at Waipu (20th January)
Waipu - has 2 young chicks currently - one from a Mangawhai egg rescued on 4th January. They will be banded shortly.
Zoo Aviary - 8 healthy fairy tern chicks are banded and learning to dive and fish for their live kai. With some luck, hard work and good management they will all be released into the wild in due course, and join the other fairy terns already seen flocking in the Kaipara.
